The location of the hotel is good, facing city. The venue has fashionable rooms and outstandingly accommodating and amazingly nice staff with the missing manager. Every time in Basel we stay in this property.

This is the first time I've ever written a review of a hotel, but unfortunately found the room unacceptable. We were on the same side as the trams, and although the windows were closed and the fan was on, the trams were so loud it was like the Woody Allen movie where he grows up under the Coney Island cyclone. Except that it wasn't funny.

Nice hotel in a nice city. A very good breakfast. Excellent service from staff.
Recommend that Internet / WiFi is included in room price. Availability of internet is one of my criteria.

Nice, friendly hotel in a good location close to the centre of Basel and directly on main tram routes in and out of the city. All of the staff were polite and spoke very good English.
Internet access (Wi-Fi and Cable) is quite expensive. Also, the breakfast area gets very busy and fills up quickly.

We were greeted by a male receptionist who was very helpful and could answer all our questions - giving us information on the city and whereabouts. The room was fairly old-fashioned but clean and the beds very comfortable. The bathroom was also very clean and a very good size. There are several restaurants, bars and coffee houses close to the hotel and we found a great little pizza place for supper and a coffee house for breakfast, as travelling with children can be a little tricky with regards to food. We were only five minutes walk from the old town and the Rhein which is very beautiful and all the tram rides were included in the hotel booking. Would definitely stay there again.

The room featured excellent amenities with a comfortable bed and practical work area. Location was convenient, with access to cafes and supermarkets. A short stroll to the city center. Navigating to the hotel was challenging due to misleading signs, and parking fees were on the high side. Breakfast options were limited for those seeking lighter fare, such as just pastries. The ambiance was lacking, especially in the bar area.

Location for business and for accessing local transport.
Rooms were too warm, pretty bog standard furnishings. It was clean enough though and the staff provided an extra bed for my 6 year old free of charge. The internet access was unpredictable and I was amazed I had to pay for it. Any other hotels I have stayed at recently provide free internet access. I would urge Mercure to catch up here, otherwise I feel I am being ripped off. I will not be staying at a Mercure hotel again because of this.

Good breakfast. Tram stop near the front of hotel.
Long and not very nice checkin. Wanted up-front payment for room and breakfast. Noisy room - tram and ventilation. Flashing lights all night on building opposite.
